Project Reflection--Harshal
The project has finally ended and it has ended well, the Resilience Cafe Night was a great success. And i believe that my performance has been great and that my Music Piece ended up very well. It has been a fantastic experience and I learned many things about many resilient figures and about writing poetry. For example I learned how to use Garageband which will be a great skill in the future, specifically I learned how to edit out unwanted sounds and to split and change the place of sections of music. Most importantly I learned the structure of songs and spoken word and patterns of rhyme. Lastly I learned about African American History and got more comfortable in front of large groups of people through Resilience Cafe and the Poetry Slam. Oh and my team won the Civil War Showdown and we were the south, the hard side to defend. I believe I deserve an Exceeds Expectations, please correct me if I'm wrong Ms. Staff.I think my presentation skills have greatly improved and I have become a better public speaker through this project. I didn't do that well in this section but, I think I Met Expectations. The intro to my song on cafe night was pretty good and I didn't stutter or anything, but I am kind of regretting not being brave enough to perform live in front of anyone, I only did my song with Adam and no one saw us live. But I was professional and neat when it came to my book page, it was structured properly and neat and well put together so it was easy to read and not boring, hopefully.I believe that my lyrics and my page are both pieces of beautiful work. I worked really hard on them and had many people edit them and kept on rewriting and changing parts to make it the best I can. I am also happy that i took the extra step of making it rhyme in a meaningful way not a useless way just to make it sound good. I used the story or epic poem format for it and it turned out great. I was done early and was not late and I took a couple days just to edit it in Garageband and make it perfect. I think for this section I deserve an Exceeds Expectations. I also helped Adam make the universal template for the book page which made life much easier for the rest of the class.Something I am very proud of in this project is the great increase in my ability to write good and meaningful poetry, at the beginning I was not much of a poet and now that I have created/wrote, edited and performed my song I feel very proud that I was brave enough to let a huge audience listen to it.OVERALL GRADE: EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS.~Harshal
PROJECT REFLECTION
I believe that i meeted (B) in the
knowledge section because i completed the relationship between the north and the south through the graphs and research (especialy the text book page), learned how to honor resilient individuals (even though the
Dalai Lama didn't come, i at least got a well thought out response), and shared info on a key contributer to the Civil rights movement, but not more than anyone else. that's why it should be average.
In presentation/Professionalism i definately exceeded (A) since i created a beautiful art piece and presented in in a great way. The art piece, i felt had a lot of deeper meaning and symbolism in it. I also helped with the book design and created a beautiful page with three pictures and detailed descriptions I designed most of the cover, helped with the intro, made the page format and much more. Lastly, i also created a 100 word desription plaque to go along with it.
I deserve (in my opinion) an "A" in Polished Writing because my connections between my two individuals from the past and the present are clear. I explained how they connected clearly and in depth. I did not include any slang in the writing. I used sophisticated language. there are no grammaticals in my writing. this is because it was edited by many people. Most of them agreed though, that it didn't need many modifications.

100 Word Description
These lyrics represent many things, and there are many reasons why I wrote them. First and hopefully the most obvious is because I want to tribute the Buddha and the Dalai Lama for what they have done. My poem describes the journey of a young man trying to find enlightenment, and open his inner eyes to the world. Throughout the piece I am trying to relay the suffering that the Buddha goes through and how in present times he is still here reincarnated in the Dalai Lama to watch over us. That is the main point of this poem, and I hope while you are listening you will hope to give up something of yours to help someone you love.

almost a 100 word description
This art piece’s main components are the three icons of the Buddha, Dalai Lama, and Tibet. This means that the Buddha’s soul embodies the Dalai Lama, the Dalai Lama rules over Tibet, and the small figurines of gods mean that it all encompasses the Buddhism religion, as well as tolerance of other religions. You may not spot the shields coming from the sides of Tibet and that means that the Buddhists shield themselves from the violence of the world through meditation and discipline. The telescope is easy to spot, but you won’t know what it means unless you look through the telescope and find that it says: Enlightenment. This represents the search for enlightenment, the main goal of all Buddhists.
Personal Connection~Harshal
The Buddha is a big part of my religion, Hinduism. I am proud to be creating a tribute for someone i respect and for someone who i know gave up a lot for his people. The most important thing that I want to get across in my song/spoken word is what Buddha gave up and how the Dalai Lama comes every generation to watch over his people and his followers and sheild them from the violence and suffering of the world. I have had many experiences which would connect me with the Buddha, first when i went to India i went to a museum which had his whole story spread out and i have also watched an iMax movie called Mystic India which shows a young man going through the journey for enlightenment just like the Buddha did. I hope that through my lyrics people can understand the true meaning of what the Buddha and the Dalai Lama do for the community and their people.
Questions for the audience:
1. What did the Buddha give up royalty and fortune for?
2. Would you do the same?
3. What is greater to you royalty and riches or peace and happiness?
Just think about what the Buddha gave up you will know how he shows his resilience.

Personal Connections
My personal connection to my art piece is that my mom meditates regularly and it helps her calm down, so i know how the customs of Buddhism can really work. It is amazing the difference in her mood when she starts to when she is finished. I love the Buddhism religion and it's ability to calm the mind, and respect it for their view of tolerance. That is why i chose these characters. You can understand the Buddhism religion, but to respect it is another thing. I have tried to meditate, but have not succeded. To meditate requires great diciplin, and i envy those who can successfully clear their mind. I think everyone should experience my artwork and learn about it. There is a lot of symbolism in my work and i think i really opened up a window into the Buddhism religion. Thinking as deeply as i do about my characters, my thoughts on that character are transmitted directly to the artpiece. The dalai Lama is portrayed in my artpiece as wizened by the world, happy, knowlegeable, and peaceful. Whenever i look ata picture of him, i always take a deep breath and imagine what it would be like to be him. Amazing. Simpley amazing.
questions to audience:
1: Can you understand the piece without an explanation?
2: have you ever experienced an enlightening moment when you were calm and in controle?
3: Can you understand the historical figures i portrayed and their journey?
4: Are you religiouse? Can you relate to the beliefs of Buddhism?
Harshal~Reflection
Today in class we
didn't have much time to work with but we made the most of it by planning out the song format I am going to use. Since Adam has already finished his art
piece, he is going to help me. We seem to be working really well with each other the only problem is getting the lyrics for the song. I am going to have to work really hard over the weekend to start writing the lyrics. My plan has already been set I hope that others will comment on my post and give advice. It
wasn't much of a productive day but my plan has been set and my partner has finished his art
piece all that is left is to write the lyrics and record the song.
